A note on the numbering of the cards in this blog

I do not number the major cards, preferring instead to use their traditional titles. The masculine suits of Wands and Swords are numbered in Arabic numerals, whilst the feminine suits of Coins and Cups are numbered in Roman numerals.

9 of Wands

Mars in Sagittarius/9th house.
The Waite-Smith shows a combatant standing in front of nine wands which form a palisade. He looks tired as if he has just won a battle at great cost to himself. His head bears a bloody bandage. The Morgan-Greer shows a warrior striding confidently past 9 wands. He appears to have been victorious.
Travel, exploration, adventure, bravery. Enthusiastic, strong beliefs, spiritual, religious, convincing others, social causes, reform. Extravagant, hedonistic, rude, sloppy, rude.
Fractures of the hips or thighs, accidents or injuries to the hips and thighs, sciatica, leg pains, dislocations.

Fear, Saturn and The Hermit

It is interesting that Ben Howard uses the word confines on track six The Fear, from his debut album Every Kingdom; as it suggests the influence of Saturn [The Hermit] the planet which governs, confinement during pregnancy, fear, doubt and imprisonement.

The lyrics to the title track also suggest the workings of time. I appear to have unwittingly been listening to and reading material linked in some way to the Lord of Time; see my TimeLine on fb.

IV of Cups

Neptune in Cancer/4th House.
The Waite-Smith deck shows a man sitting beneath a tree with three cups on the ground before him. A fourth cup is being offered to him by a disembodied hand which emerges from a cloud. The Morgan-Greer deck shows a man covered in ivy with three cups in the foreground, in front of him a hand emerges from a cloud offering him a cup.
Changes of residence, uncertainty surrounding the home or mother. Sensitivity, spiritual perception
Dipsomania, weak stomach, disorders of the glands or secretions of the stomach, malfunction of pyolorus.

9 of Swords

Venus in Gemini/3rd House.
The Morgan-Greer deck depicts what appears to be a forest fire in the background, the sky is a brilliant blaze of orange. In the foreground 9 swords are suspended in the air above a pair of hands struggling to break free of rope bonds.

The card suggests that you have painted your self into a corner by being  too flirtatious or accommodating.

Dropsy, warts, pulmonary inefficiency, eruptions on the hands.

8 of Swords

Mercury in Gemini/3rd house.

Both the Waite-Smith and the Morgan-Greer decks depict a woman who is blindfolded and bound; surrounded by a wall of swords.
A sticky, tricky or difficult situation brought about by inconstancy, dishonesty or lack of tidiness.

Gout in the arms or shoulders, bronchitis, asthma, asphyxiation, pleurisy, arm diseases, paralysis of the arms, neuralgia.

VI of Cups

Neptune in Scorpio/8th house.

Depression, soul sickness or wrong doing. An interest in metaphysical subjects, mediumistic abilities.

Afflictions to the nerves of the genito-urinary tract, ill health from drug abuse, epidemic or wasting diseases.
